A new children's choir in Llandrindod Wells has taken its first steps after making its debut performance at the town’s carnival.
The Llandrindod Wells Children's Community Choir performed for the first time at the event, just weeks after being formed, entertaining carnival visitors with a confident set despite the high temperatures.
The young singers were met with applause and encouragement from the crowd as they took to the stage in their new choir T-shirts.

The choir was founded by lifelong friends Mandy Davies and Lorraine Cadwallader-Jones, who had long shared the ambition of creating a local group where children could enjoy singing together, make friends and develop confidence.
The pair said they were “absolutely thrilled” with the children’s first performance.

“They have worked so hard over the past few weeks, and to see them standing together in their new choir T-shirts, singing so confidently for their very first performance, was simply wonderful,” they said.
“We couldn’t be prouder of every single one of them.”
The organisers thanked parents and families who have supported the choir since it began, bringing children to rehearsals and encouraging them along the way.
They also praised the support of local businesses and organisations that helped get the choir started.
Steve Palmer, Mortgage and Protection Adviser, sponsored the choir’s new T-shirts, while Lee Percy of The Lake Boathouse and Quackers Play Centre sponsored the performance banners.
Llandrindod Wells Town Council also awarded the choir a start-up grant.

Organisers hope the carnival appearance will be the beginning of many more performances and opportunities for local children to share their love of music with the wider community.
