Permanent repairs are currently being carried out to the storm damaged bridge in Crickhowell, with night closures planned for next week.
Powys County Council are overseeing the repair works to Crickhowell Bridge, which was damaged by flooding during Storm Denis earlier this year. The work is being carried out by Kaymac Marine & Civil Engineering Ltd.
Work are due to be completed by early October. The bridge will be open to vehicles during the work with traffic management arrangements in place.
However, a night-time closure will be in place between 7pm and 6am for five nights, starting on Monday 7 September. This will allow the contractor to safely to safely rebuild the damaged section. A local diversion will be in place for the night-time closures.
Cllr Heulwen Hulme, Cabinet Member for Highways, said: “These permanent repair works are essential to restore, protect and preserve Crickhowell Bridge following significant damage caused by the flooding earlier this year.
“The bridge will be open to traffic while the repairs are being carried out, but the five night-time closures starting next Monday, are vital to ensure the safety of the contractors whilst also minimising disruption to those who use the bridge during the day.”
