Internationally acclaimed theatre company British Touring Shakespeare will bring an open-air performance of William Shakespeare’s timeless romance Romeo and Juliet to the beautiful Willow Globe theatre in Powys on Friday 31st July, as part of their 2026 summer UK tour.
This marks the company's first appearance at the Willow Globe, one of Wales' most distinctive outdoor Shakespeare venues, and their first performance in Wales since 2022.
Associate Director Lucyelle Cliffe said: “We are delighted to be bringing Romeo and Juliet to the Willow Globe for the first time. There is something truly magical about performing Shakespeare in a venue created especially for his plays, and this timeless story of love, hope and heartbreak feels perfectly at home beneath the summer sky. We look forward to sharing this beautiful production with audiences in such a unique setting.”
Troy Chessman, who plays Romeo, said: “Romeo is one of Shakespeare’s most exhilarating and complex roles to perform. A young man guided by emotion, he is both determined yet impulsive, thoughtful yet reckless, tender yet violent, confident yet unsure. For me, Romeo is conflict personified. He is a wonderfully human character, and it is a privilege to bring this extraordinary love story to life in the intimate surroundings of the Willow Globe. Audiences can expect an evening of romance, humour and unforgettable drama.”
British Touring Shakespeare invite audiences of all ages to enjoy an unforgettable evening among the stars, drawing on their decades of experience to bring the company’s renowned energy and accessibility to Shakespeare’s timeless classic tale of star-crossed lovers.
