The Welsh Government is seeking a new member for Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority.
The role gives applicants the chance to help oversee one of Wales’s most important landscapes.
Members of the Authority help set the Park’s strategic direction and make decisions on issues including biodiversity, climate change, and sustainable tourism. They also support the wellbeing of local communities and visitors.
Catherine Mealing-Jones, Chief Executive of the Park Authority, said: “Effective leadership is vital to the future of our national park. New Members bring welcome new perspectives and diverse skills and experiences to our work and that of our partners as we work together to deliver Dyfodol y Bannau our Management Plan.
“The role of Members at the National Park Authority is critical in galvanising the action needed to respond to the climate, nature, and well-being crises, and to maintain the National Park’s special qualities for current and future generations.”
Members have equal standing, whether appointed by Welsh Ministers or a local authority, and previous board experience is not required. The Authority encourages applications from people with a wide range of professional and personal backgrounds.
Applications for the role must be submitted by 4pm on February 3 2026 online at gov.wales/public-appointments. Interviews will take place on March 9 and 10. For more information, please contact [email protected] via email or call 0300 025 5454.
The role offers an opportunity to influence how the Park balances conservation, recreation, and community needs. Members contribute to decision-making that affects wildlife, landscapes, and the people who live in and visit the area.
National Park Authority members are responsible, individually and collectively, for providing effective leadership for the Authority, setting policies and ensuring that objectives are met. They also play a key role in supporting vibrant local communities and fostering inclusivity.
