Canon Froome 206 for 8 Builth 1st XI 101 all out .

BUILTH 1st X1 travelled to Canon Froome last Saturday buoyed by a good win against Ledbury last weekend hoping to continue in winning form.

Skipper Adam Cook lost the toss and was asked to bowl first on a sunny warm day.

Canon Froome made a steady start but some good tight bowling from Steve Fuller and Eric De Greeve and sharp fielding restricted them to 109 for 6 from 30 overs before Atkin and Weaver put on 90 for the eigth wicket in quick time to post a competitive 206 for 8 from their 45 overs.

With the clouds building and the weather looking threatening Aled Powell and Winston Williams started the Builth reply.

With the opening bowlers keeping a tight line and length and proving very difficult to score from the top order was reduced to 63 for 6 with only Aled Powell putting up any resistance whilst loosing Williams 0, Galton 2 De Greeve 11 Roff 2 Cook 8 and Fuller 9 before being bowled one ball before the rain halted proceedings with the score on 83 for 8.

Following the delay Builth were given a revised target of 134 but failed to reach it and ended on 101 all out with Darren Laurie providing some typical big hitting in a late rally scoring 22 in quick order at the end.

With just four points netted it is important to regain our winning ways this weekend against Woolhope at Garth road.
