MMP MID WALES LEAGUE CUP

Builth Wells capped their first season back in the MMP Mid Wales League first division by lifting the league cup. The Bulls maintained their superb end of season form with two goals from Josh Price securing a 2-1 extra-time victory over Caersws at Rhayader Town’s Weirglodd on Saturday evening.

Builth made a great start and led after five minutes with Richie Powell squaring for Josh Price to fire home. Caersws ‘keeper, Luke Evans then conceded a penalty after bringing down Price but atoned with a superb save from Tom Bethell. Mark Edmondson hit the bar for Caersws in the first half and The Bluebirds did equalise on the hour with a penalty of their own. Builth’s Stuart Turpin upended Lance Jones and Elliot Jones obliged from the spot.

It was nip and tuck from then and the final went to extra-time where Builth got on top in the second period and grabbed their winner.

Richie Powell was again the provider and his cross was met by a superb volley from Josh Price which gave Evans no chance to the delight of Builth’s large band of supporters.
