KNIGHTON Town overcame mud bath conditions to record a 2-0 home success against Radnorshire rivals, Llandrindod Wells in the Spar Mid Wales League first division.

In the only first division game to take place on Saturday, The Robins avenged a 2-1 defeat at Llandrindod earlier in the campaign to move to within two points of Penrhyncoch at the top of the table.

Both goals came in the first half with Danny Ives heading the first before Mark Jones added the second with a free-kick.

Despite having Ives sent off early in the second half, Knighton stood firm keeping a seventh successive clean sheet in the league to keep their title hopes on course.

There was just one game in Division Two as waterlogged pitches wiped out the remainder of the day’s programme and Penybont find themselves rock bottom after suffering a damaging 7-3 defeat at Four Crosses. Jake Bufton, Gavin Johnson and Jack Murphy netted for The Racecourse side who were drawing 2-2 at half-time before capitulating in the second half.
