Talgarth Town are through to the Pip Samuel (Electrical) Mid Wales (South) League Cup Final following a hard-earned 2-1 victory over Rhayader Town Development.

With their title challenge having faded in the latter part of the season, Talgarth kept themselves in the hunt for silverware, with two goals just before half-time paving the way.

Kyle O’Shea put Talgarth ahead in the 44th minute when Rhayader failed to deal with a free-kick from Tom Sharman-Jones, who himself added a second in first-half stoppage time with a cracking half-volley from the edge of the box.

Cameron Mills reduced the deficit for Rhayader on the hour when he headed home from a Jacob Jones corner.

Rhayader pressed for an equaliser, but Talgarth goalkeeper Steven Potter and his defence stood firm, and they will now meet either Hay St Marys or Brecon FC in the final.
