TALGARTH Town belied their lowly position in the Mid Wales League (South) to reach the third round of the Emrys Morgan Cup with a 3-0 win against visiting Llanilar.

Scott Pavey fired Talgarth ahead with a shot on the turn and Ben Sharman added a second before half-time. Llanilar, who play in the Aberystwyth and District League, never really threatened and Tom Pavey sealed the win with a third for the hosts.

Talgarth will now meet Llandrindod Wells Reserves in the third round next week – The Spa side were handed a walkover when Aberporth could not raise a team for their second round tie.

Brecon FC are also through in the cup after defeating Mid Wales League (South) rivals, Presteigne Reserves 4-1 at Penlan. Louis Pritchard (2) and the influential Rhodri Boosey saw Brecon three up at half-time and Pritchard completed his hat-trick before Josh Evans gained a consolation for Presteigne.

Hay St Marys are however out of the cup following a narrow 1-0 defeat at home against Aberdyfi. The visitors scored direct from a corner after just three minutes after which Hay dominated the tie but just could not get the ball in the net.
