Llandrindod Wells knocked in five goals to advance in the cup and Builth Wells came from behind twice to snatch a point in the highlights of the weekend's football action.
FAW AMATEUR TROPHY
Llandrindod Wells are through to the quarter finals of the Dragon Signs FAW Amateur Trophy after a five star showing on The Broadway.
The Spa men, who welcomed back midfielder, Bob Kear, comfortably saw off Aberfan from the South Wales Alliance first division 5-0 to progress to the last eight.
It took Llandrindod 36 minutes to break the deadlock when Jack Evans scored from the penalty spot and then two goals in as many minutes put them in a commanding position. Evans was provider for number two with Ashley Jones heading home and Tom Durant also got on the scoresheet.
Player-coach, Robbie Nicholls virtually sealed the tie adding a fourth straight after half-time before Durant completed the win with his second of the afternoon.
Llandrindod Wells’ reward for their victory in an away tie at Cardiff Corinthians in the quarter-final.
It looks a tough draw for the Spa men with their opponents currently top of the South Wales alliance Premier Division.
Llansantffraid Village, the only other Mid Wales side remaining in the competition, bowed out with Matthew Williams and Liam Pickstock scoring their goals in a 5-2 defeat at Bridgend Street.

ARDAL LEAGUE NORTH EAST
Builth Wells remain in the top six in the Ardal League North East after twice coming from behind to share the points in a 2-2 draw with Llanuwchllyn on The Lant Field.
The visitors made the better start and took the lead with Michael Pritchard netting a penalty after Chris Roff had collided with an opposing striker.
But The Bulls responded with Lyndon Jones cutting in from the right to score from 25 yards.
Llanuwchllyn went ahead for a second time just before the break with Garman Hafal heading in from a free-kick.
It was all Builth at the start of the second half and substitute, Christian Jones levelled with a superb header from a Rhys Thomas cross. Builth Joint manager, Jason Samuel admitted a draw was probably a fair result although The Bulls could have snatched it with Richie Powell hitting the bar late on.
Rhayader Town slipped deeper into trouble at the foot of the table after a 4-1 defeat at Penycae although the performance was better than the scoreline suggests.
Fletcher Chandler gave The Red Kites an early lead from Grant Stamp’s cross but Harry Killick levelled and further goals from Eric Durnell and Killick saw Penycae 3-1 ahead by half-time.
Rhayader started the second half brightly but Dan Holland added a fourth for Penycae on the hour following a counter attack and there was no way back for the Radnorshire side.
Bottom of the table, Corwen had moved level on points with Rhayader in midweek with a 1-1 draw against Dolgellau.
New signing, Will Gruffydd put Dolgellau ahead but Tom Williams equalised. Dolgellau have also signed Callum Page from Machynlleth but topscorer Gerwyn Williams has left for Porthmadog in Tier Two.
Caersws cemented top spot with first half goals from Craig Harris (2) and Neil Mitchell earning a 3-0 win over Llanrhaeadr. Cefn Albion are second after sweeping past Dolgellau 5-0 thanks to Torne Samuels, Jordan Johnson, Alex Williams, Chris Budrys and Luke Griffin.
Sion Ewart, Ifan Burrell and Rhydian Davies struck late in the day for Bow Street who beat Welshpool Town 3-0 while Llanfair United ended a run of defeats with a 1-1 draw against Llangollen Town. Karl Seliaerts put Llanfair ahead but Ben Wilson equalised.
In the Ardal League South East, former Rhayader Town goalkeeper, Kham Steventon made his debut for Goytre AFC in their 3-0 win over Chepstow Town.
MMP CENTRAL WALES LEAGUE (SOUTH)
Radnor Valley are top of the MMP Central Wales League (South) following Saturday’s 4-1 home success over Aberystwyth University.
The Goats move two points ahead of Hay St Marys after coming from behind to see off the students.
Topscorer, Will Ludlow had put the visitors ahead but Geraint Lloyd put Radnor back on terms and player-manager, Elliot Morris and Charlie Beaumont netted before half-time.
Defender, Matt Croose scored the only second half goal as in-form Radnor stretched their winning run to eleven in all competitions.
Knighton Town returned to winning ways with Declan Beddoes their hat-trick hero in a 6-1 win at Aberaeron as The Radnor Robins maintained their one hundred per cent away record in the league.
Beddoes had given Knighton a lead which was cancelled out by Llew Lloyd.
Beddoes struck again just before half-time and Aberaeron’s Aled Davies saw red on the hour.
Knighton eventually made their extra man pay with three goals in four minutes from substitute, Billy Hyett and influential midfielder, Kieran Dovey (2) before Beddoes completed his hat-trick in stoppage time.
There was no joy for Knighton’s arch rivals, Presteigne St Andrews who were beaten 6-0 at home by Penparcau. Harley Lawton bagged a hat-trick, Mikey Gornall scored twice and Elwyn Edwards was also on target for Penparcau who scored three in each half.
Penybont United were also put to the sword as they crashed to a 9-0 defeat at Machynlleth. Calum Humphreys led the way including two penalties in his four goal haul. Tom Evans recorded a hat-trick while Luke-Vince Holt and Dion Kohler completed the spree.
MMP CENTRAL WALES LEAGUE CUP
Hay St Marys had a day to forget as they crashed out of the MMP Central Wales league Cup in a shock 6-1 defeat at Trewern United.
The Saints, who were without a number of key players, were 4-0 down at half-time with Barry Haralambous and Luke Francis each netting twice for the home side. Byron Edwards and Will Roberts added to the tally after the break before topscorer, Matty Tong gained a late consolation for Hay.
Trewern will now have to make the trip to Barmouth in the quarter finals while Radnor Valley, the one remaining local team in the competition, are also on the road – The Goats travelling to Tywyn Bryncrug. Radnor are the holders having lifted the trophy last season when it was known as the MMP Mid Wales League Cup.

WATSON FINANCIAL MID WALES LEAGUE (SOUTH)
Felindre and Hay St Marys Reserves are both just a point behind leaders, Newcastle following Saturday’s 1-1 draw in the Watson Financial Mid Wales League (South).
Sam Morgan’s free-kick led to an own goal from Hay’s Harry Gilbert in the first half to put Felindre ahead but The Saints hit back with a second half penalty from captain, Darren Horrigan. Felindre are emerging as the league’s draw specialists and have now shared the points in their last four league games.
The day’s other fixture was postponed with Presteigne St Andrews Reserves unable to field a side for their match a St Harmon.
FAW NATIONAL RESERVE LEAGUE CENTRAL
Rhayader Town hauled themselves off the foot of the FAW National Reserve League Central with a stunning 7-0 home victory against Llanfair United.
Rhayader virtually had the points in the bag by half-time when they led 4-0 thanks to Sam Crumpton, Aaron Bates and Ollie Leadbetter who scored twice - his first goals for The Kites since a recent move from local rivals, St Harmon.
Rhayader continued to press in the second half with Ryan Owen, Dan Goodman and Alex Clarke chipping in to complete their biggest win of the season.
At the other end of the table, Bow Street extended their lead at the top to eleven points with a 6-2 win at Welshpool Town.
Street included first team striker, Ifan Burrell in their line-up and he made the difference with a hat-trick. Joseff Williams, Ben Davies and Rhys Hughes were the other marksmen with Ethan Kinsey netting twice for Welshpool to take him top of the league goalscoring charts.
