Carers across Powys are being invited to take a well-earned break with a series of free wellness events organised by Age Cymru Powys.

Following the success of its Carers Wellness Days in January, the charity is hosting “taster sessions” this autumn and winter, leading into three full-day events in January 2026.

The sessions, open to anyone aged 50 or over who is a current, former, or future carer, are designed to offer relaxation, connection, and support. Each two-hour taster session will feature wellness activities such as light massage, reflexology, armchair exercises, and craft demonstrations. Attendees will also have the chance to meet other carers and speak with Age Cymru Powys staff about local support services.

Sessions are scheduled at the following venues: Glangrwyney Village Hall, Crickhowell (October 15); Old TIC, Builth Wells (October 22); Subud Hall, Brecon (October 30); COWSHACC, Welshpool (November 18); Hay-on-Wye Bowling Club (November 25); Howey Village Hall (December 9); and Presteigne Memorial Hall (December 16).

The programme will culminate in full-day Carers Wellness Days in Newtown (January 13), Brecon (January 21), and Llandrindod Wells (January 29).

Stephanie Griffiths, Carers Co-ordinator at Age Cymru Powys, said: "We are thrilled to offer more of these events as they’ve been greatly enjoyed by carers across Powys. Carers do an invaluable job, often with little recognition. These sessions are our way of giving back and providing a space where they can feel appreciated, relax, and connect with a community of people who understand their daily challenges. We’re particularly keen to welcome not just current carers, but also those who have cared in the past or may find themselves in a caring role in the future."

All sessions are free, including refreshments. Carers should register at least two weeks in advance by calling 01686 623707 or emailing: [email protected]
