Two flood warnings are in place in Powys this afternoon as heavy rain from Storm Bram continues to cause rising river levels, travel disruption and power cuts across Wales.
Natural Resources Wales (NRW) issued a Flood Warning for the River Usk from Brecon to Glangrwyne at 2:13pm today. River levels remain high, and although the heaviest rainfall has now passed, flooding to low-lying roads and land is already occurring, with flooding to property considered likely.
At 2:30pm, levels on the Usk were recorded as 3.46m and falling at Brecon Promenade, 2.63m and falling at Trallong, and 3.41m and rising at Crickhowell.
A second Flood Warning is in force for the River Wye at Builth Wells, where levels reached 3.99m just after 2pm - and it is continuing to rise.
UPDATE: At 4pm, the Usk at Crickhowell was at 3.58m and Wye at Builth Wells was at 4.06m.
NRW said flooding to property is expected and warned residents to remain alert as the situation develops.
Across Wales, Storm Bram has brought strong winds, surface water on roads and localised flooding. NRW reminded the public that a Flood Warning means “flooding is expected” and that immediate action is required.
The weather also affected local schools. Crickhowell High School closed early after receiving advice from the Local Authority due to rising river levels and localised flooding on nearby roads.
NRW says it will continue to monitor river levels closely and update warnings as conditions change.
Residents can call Floodline on 0345 988 1188 for advice or check the latest alerts online.

Wind could also prove to be a problem, with the Met Office warning of gusts up to 40-50 mph for most of the country, up to 60-70 mph along the coast.
