Brecon Corries Under 13s capped off an undefeated league campaign on Wednesday, May 8 as they beat Hay St Marys to clinch the league title.

In their final league game of the 23/24 season, the Corries beat Hay 3-2. They only needed a point to be crowned league champions, but took all three against a resilient Hay at The Rich Field.

Coached by Adam Tebbitt and Dai Davies, the team included Harri Griffiths, Kian Belcher, Ryan Price, Zach Davies, Lestyn Taylor, Dominik Bialowas, Oliver Forbes, Jakey Watts (C), Tobias Powell, Noah Price, and Thomas Simmons.

Speaking on the team’s success, Coach Adam Tebbitt said: “The team have had an incredible season - but their success is absolutely deserved. They've shown real commitment whether that's training in poor weather or the one session on a Saturday which we could only hold at 7am, but still the boys were there! That hard work has paid off and seen them reap the rewards with winning the league unbeaten.

“In our final game against Hay-on-Wye, it was a very competitive game and from our perspective a tense affair. But the boys, backed by the amazing support from our junior and senior players, demonstrated the character they have shown all season and grounded out the win. It was a fantastic advert for grassroots football.

“We have a semi-final in the cup to look forward to, but whatever happens, both Dai and I are immensely proud of the boys.”

Following victory over Hay, a Brecon Corries spokesperson said: “A night this special group of players will never forget. What a game, what a turnout and what an atmosphere. This is grassroots football - we all must bottle it and keep it safe.”

Parents of the players commended the team’s coaches. They said: “A big thank you to the coaches Dai Davies and Adam Tebbit for all they do for the boys; their coaching and support is what got them in this position. The boys think the absolute world of them and have now been able to make a memory that will last them a lifetime with their friends.”
