Talented chefs from across Wales will be demonstrating their culinary skills as the Mid Wales Autumn Fayre returns to the Royal Welsh Showground at Builth Wells this weekend (October 7 and 8) with a packed programme of attractions for all the family.
TV cook specialist Nerys Howell, who has travelled the world promoting Welsh food and drink, will be demonstrating recipes from her bilingual book Bwyd Cymru yn ei Dymor/ Welsh Food by Season. Recipes include Laver Breakfast Burgers and Pembrokeshire Potato, Apple and Bacon Salad.
Jamie Tulley, globetrotting executive chef at Chartists 1770 at The Trewythen in Llanidloes, will be demonstrating his Bacon and Laver Bread Risotto. One of his apprentice chefs, Gabrielle Wilson, a WorldSkills UK finalist in November, will be making Chocolate Cremeux.
Training officers from Cambrian Training Company will also be demonstrating culinary arts techniques and skills over the weekend.
In his sugar showpiece craft and skills demonstration, William Richards will be using the best of Welsh produce to create a plated dessert, while Andrew Addis-Fuller will be creating the perfect lunch to wow friends and family in his Pies, Plates and Pastry demonstration.
Celebrating and promoting Welsh food and drink, Mid Wales Autumn Fayre will feature more than 50 Welsh artisan food and drink stalls, where visitors can taste and buy best locally-made Welsh produce.
Family attractions include 45 Welsh arts and crafts stalls, a showcase of more than 150 vintage vehicles and 150 trucks, a Kid’s Zone featuring a fun fair and lots of other activities and Cambrian Training Company’s Careers Zone.
A Rugby World Cup fan zone will be showing matches live from France and there will be numerous places to sample and buy food and drink.
Early Bird tickets can still be booked online at www.midwalesautumnfayre.co.uk for £6 for one day or £12 for the weekend. Entry at the gate will be £8. Children aged 12 years and under and carers accompanied by a paying disabled adult have free entry. All dogs must be kept on leads.
