Award-winning broadcaster Vicki Blight will officially open the Brecon Beacons Food Festival when it returns to Brecon Market Hall on Saturday, October 4.

Vicki, the voice of Virgin Radio Chilled, is a familiar presence to listeners across the UK, presenting weeknights on Virgin Radio and covering shows across Virgin Radio UK. Her career has also seen her front programmes for BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 Music and Absolute Radio, where she won a prestigious Sony Radio Academy Award.

Alongside her radio work, she has hosted major events including the Six Nations, Champions League Final and Let’s Rock festivals. She is also an accomplished voiceover artist and in 2021 was named in the Western Mail’s Pinc List of the most influential LGBTQ+ individuals in Wales.

Festival organiser Andrew Powell said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Vicki to Brecon. She’s an outstanding broadcaster and a proud Welsh voice who has entertained audiences across the UK. Her energy and passion make her the perfect person to open this year’s festival, which is all about celebrating the best of Welsh food, drink and community spirit.

Now celebrating its 25th year, the Brecon Beacons Food Festival has grown into one of Wales’ premier food events, attracting thousands of visitors every autumn. The 2025 edition is again free entry and will feature more than 70 food and drink producers, live music and family entertainment.

Organisers are hoping this year’s event will push visitor numbers in Brecon past the 300,000 mark since the festival’s launch 27 years ago.

This year’s programme also includes a special VE Day-themed performance, with an act flying in from northern England especially for the occasion.

A park and ride service will operate from Brecon Livestock Market, courtesy of McCartneys and Williams Coaches of Brecon.
