An award-winning stage production is coming to Builth Wells next week, with a performance planned at the Strand Hall.

WEST, written by acclaimed playwright Owen Thomas, will be staged on Friday, February 13, starting at 7:30pm. The production brings Thomas back to the area alongside actor and director Gareth John Bale, with the performance hosted by the Friends of Builth Wells Library.

The play tells the story of two Welsh lovers who leave their homeland in search of a new life in the New World. Told through lyrical and poetic writing, WEST explores love, hardship and adventure, while placing immigration and the pull of home at the centre of the story.

Performed with a minimal set and a highly physical style, the production offers an intimate experience, drawing audiences into the emotional and physical journeys of its characters.

The cast features Gareth John Bale, who also directs the production. He is known for his work on Grav, Steeltown Murders, Nye and Jennie. He is joined on stage by Gwenllian Higginson, a well-known Welsh actor whose previous credits include Constellations, Gwlad yr Asyn and Miss Julie.

The Friends of Builth Wells Library said they were delighted to welcome the creative team back to the town and to offer local audiences the chance to see high-quality contemporary Welsh theatre close to home.

Tickets cost £5 and are available in advance from Builth Wells Library or on the door on the night.
