CRICKHOWELL FC are in action in the quarter finals of the Gwent Amateur Cup this weekend in Cwmbran.
The Breconshire side travel to the south Wales newtown to take on Lucas Cwmbran in the last eight of the knockout competition this Saturday, January 5.
Autocentres Gwent County League division three side Crickhowell dispatched the Brakemen’s division two rivals Machen in the last round. Crickhowell triumphed in the home tie, played the weekend before Christmas, 3-2 with goals from Jasper Morgan, Nick Francis and Dave Hansford.
Saturday is likely to pose a tougher test for Crickhowell who are currently seventh in the division three table. Though Crick' defeated higher ranked opposition in the last round, Machen are just a place above the relegation spots in division two, Lucas are in sixth place in the division and have won seven of their 14 league matches this term, and while they have lost six they have drawn only once.
In the league Crickhowell have won four and lost four and drawn twice.
During their cup run Crickhowell have been scoring for fun hitting the net 12 times in their previous three games and conceding just five.
