Llandovery is preparing for a day of celebrations with the ‘Flowers, Food & Rainbows’ event taking place on Market Square on Saturday, August 2 from 10am.

The event will feature market stalls, live performances, Pride celebrations, and an awards ceremony, all at the heart of the town.

‘Flowers, Food & Rainbows’ is a joint initiative between Llandovery Farmers Market, Heart of Wales LGBTQ+, and Llandovery in Bloom.

Market Manager Raoul Bhambral is excited.

“Market Square is in the centre of town and on Saturday it will be the centre of attention too,” he said.

“We will have market stalls from 10am-2pm with a whole range of locally produced goods and crafts.

“We are delighted to support Pride, with the parade starting from the Square at 11am.

“We will also have the awards ceremony for the winners of Llandovery in Bloom at 1:30pm.

“LGBTQ+ performers will provide live entertainment all day. There will be something for everyone, so everyone is invited to come along – and show your support!”

“Bring your wallet for your shopping, colourful garbs for Pride and be ready to celebrate and to be entertained,” he added.

Craig Osborne, Vice Chair of Heart of Wales LGBTQ+ said: "After two fantastic events in 2022 and 2023, we’re excited to bring the celebration of love, identity, and community back to the heart of town. The Mayor of Llandovery will kindly open the day with a speech at 11am, kicking off a joyful day of festivities.

“Join us at the Soapbox Stage in the Square, where talented LGBTQ+ performers will take to the mic throughout the day, leading up to a surprise headliner.

“And don’t miss our fabulous Cabaret, Justin's Cabaret Extravaganza, at The King’s Head from 6pm, featuring Cardiff’s very own Drag King, Justin Drag. Tickets are on sale now - get yours while they last!"

Llandovery in Bloom, run this year by Cllr Dorothy Burgess, features 10 categories including Best Street, Best Garden, Best Business, and Best Children’s Display.

“Llandovery in Bloom 2025 was held in July,” said Cllr Burgess.

“It was an honour to visit the various gardens with the judge & Hybu Coordinators Maggi & Tiago, who took photographs. We were each amazed by the colourfulness, creativity, uniqueness and biodiverse gardens. There were 10 categories this year and we will award 1st, 2nd and 3rd place certificates and prizes to the winners from 1:30pm in Market Square.

“Llandovery Town Council would like to congratulate those who have won a prize, to thank all those who took part, and also to thank the judge and Hybu Co-ordinators.”

Market stalls will offer a variety of fresh produce and artisanal goods, including vegetables, beef, lamb, mutton, pork, charcuterie, goat and sheep cheeses, honey, chutneys, marmalades, and mushroom tinctures. Visitors can also find gluten-free cakes, dog treats, wooden kitchenware, goat’s milk soaps, jewellery, spirits, and liquors.

Pollinator-friendly plants, houseplants, and fresh flowers will also be on sale, while street food options include pies, snacks, burritos, and tacos.
